Buster’s Easter holiday in Holgate.

So it’s official, you can easily fit three black greyhounds into a terraced house in Holgate.

Buddy, Nancy and friend Buster with SteveBuster from Fulford is staying with York Walkies for his Easter holiday while his mum and dad are in Italy, and he’s being the perfect house guest. Buddy and Nancy love having another dog to share their favourite hobby (lazing around…), and hopefully Buster is also enjoying the company which will make a change from being an only hound.

Walks are a challenge unless there are two of you, no cats or squirrels about, and everyone wants to go in the same direction at the same time!

Getting ready for a walk But they do look beautiful when they are walking out together. A little boy in a pushchair pointed and said ‘horsey’.

There will be a Buster shaped hole in Holgate at the end of the week when he goes home!

Introducing Dolly,

Specially for Steve, a picture of Dolly, just because he loves her, no other reason (does there need to be a reason when you have the power of the blog!)

This is Jane and David’s special girl.

Very cuddly and happy, she knows where the sofa is, (and the chair for that matter), and isn’t afraid to use that knowledge. Like a lot of greyhounds and lurchers, she’s constantly on the look out for small furry things to become excited about. Now sister to Marvyn and foster sister to Babe, she lives very happily in York and her local pub is the Fox on Holgate Road, where she is often seen on a Sunday evening hogging the seats in the back room and propping up her mum and dad on the way home. Favourite flavour of crisp is salt and vinegar.

The roll neck sweater gang.

Now that we know how to post photos in the blog, couldn’t resist showing this photo of Buddy, Nancy, Marvyn and Dolly, modelling their very gorgeous hand knitted roll necks, made specially for them by their Nanny Abbott.

Anyone interested in purchasing a similarly lovely pullover for their hounds, with all proceeds going to the Greyhound Gap charity, please let me know. (I am also wearing my rather lovely Catherine Abbott hand knitted cardigan, poor Steve must have felt quite left out (or relieved!))

Twenty six dogs and the sun came along too…

Great to see so many people at the April walk today, despite a couple of our regulars being laid low due to injury. After a low key weather forecast it was actually a lovely morning and we had a great turn out with twenty five pointy dogs, and one small but still very welcome interloper with beer froth round his chops.

A debut walk for Babe, Jane and David’s foster hound, and she behaved impeccably, as did Woody, a new addition to Loz’s gang.

And finally, a gratuitous picture of my girl Nancy simply because I’ve just worked out how to do this, and she’s beautiful!

Look forward to seeing everyone in May!
