Please put Sunday June 10th June 2018 into your diary and join us for what we hope will be a fantastic gathering of greyhounds, lurchers, salukis, whippets and other sight hounds!
The theme this year is ‘Fall in love with a greyhound’, we hope you will.
Each year this event gets better and better, with thousands of pointies walking all over the WORLD!
Here is a lovely video with highlights from last year’s walk.
So let’s see if we can top last year’s record of 216 hounds! We will be walking along the north bank of the River Ouse, over Skeldergate bridge, and back along the south bank of the river, over Millenium Bridge and then back to the Fulford Arms to have a drink, a bit of fun and raise some funds for our chosen charity, which for 2018 will be Candy Cane Rescue

Date: Sunday 10th June 2018
Time: 10.30 for an 11 o’clock start
Where: The Fulford Arms, Fulford Road, York http://www.thefulfordarms.co.uk/
Duration: 45 mins – 1 hour for the walk, plus an hour or two afterwards for the fund-raising (including fun dog show, raffle, games and sales of handmade stuff). The pub will be open too, so plenty of opportunity for a beer/lemonade afterwards.
Parking: Parking available on surrounding streets (see map below). Please allow time for this as you may have a couple of minutes stroll to the pub. Please don’t plan to park in the pub car park as we have to reserve space for stalls, hounds and access! (Disabled badge holders can contact us and we will reserve a space for you just outside the pub).

Please help us spread the word by putting up posters or handing out flyers to any pointy dog owners you meet. The first is an A4 poster, the second page is flyer (to be uploaded shortly).
Fun dog show:
We have 16 categories for the fun dog show this year, including, amongst others:
- Black beauty (to promote black hounds that often get overlooked in rescues)
- Honorary greyhound (for best non-pointy family member)
- Plus Best in Show (The rosette is massive)
The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an annual dog-walking event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, whippets, salukis and other sighthounds and their owners, to raise awareness and show members of the public just what wonderful companions they make.
Every year, large group-walks are held world wide on the same day and at the same time; together, the groups walk concurrently as one huge family, promoting greyhounds one step at a time.
